Heathrow Airport Passenger Pick-Up FAQs

Do you have to pay to pick someone up from Heathrow?

Not necessarily. The amount depends on the collection option you choose.

At Terminals 2, 3 and 5, Heathrow allows passenger collection from Terminal Parking or Park & Ride. Park & Ride currently provides the first 29 minutes free, while Terminal Parking is chargeable.

Terminal 4 has different arrangements because of redevelopment works.

For complete fees, payment rules and terminal-specific options, use UKride’s dedicated Heathrow Airport drop-off and pick-up charges guide.

Is there a pick-up point at Heathrow Airport?

Yes, but there is not one single passenger pick-up point for the whole airport.

The correct collection area depends on whether the passenger arrives at Terminal 2, 3, 4 or 5. For T2, T3 and T5, Heathrow directs drivers towards Terminal Parking or Park & Ride. Terminal 4 currently also offers a Priority Pick-Up area outside Arrivals.

Always confirm the passenger's terminal before driving to Heathrow.

Can I pick someone up from the Heathrow drop-off area?

No.

Heathrow's terminal forecourts are for passenger drop-off only. Pick-ups and waiting are not permitted, and vehicles must not be left unattended.

Use an approved passenger pick-up or parking area instead.

Heathrow Terminal Pick-Up FAQs

Where is the Heathrow Terminal 2 pick-up point?

For Heathrow Terminal 2 pick-up, use Terminal 2 Terminal Parking or the T2/T3 Park & Ride facility.

Passenger collection is not permitted from the Terminal 2 forecourt. Park & Ride currently allows up to 29 minutes free, while Terminal Parking is the closer paid option.

For detailed parking prices and payment information, use the dedicated pick-up/drop-off guide rather than relying on this FAQ page.

How do I pick someone up from Heathrow Terminal 3?

For Heathrow Terminal 3 passenger pick-up, use Terminal Parking or Park & Ride rather than the terminal drop-off forecourt.

If you want to meet the passenger inside, Heathrow's official Terminal 3 meeting point is in the seating area on the ground floor of Arrivals.

Check the passenger's live flight information before entering a paid parking area because landing time and the time they reach Arrivals are not the same.

Where do I pick someone up from Heathrow Terminal 4?

Terminal 4 currently operates differently.

You can use the Priority Pick-Up area outside Arrivals for a quick paid collection, or use Zone A of Terminal 4 Park & Ride if you want to park and meet the passenger inside the terminal. Zone A currently allows up to two hours of free parking.

The Terminal 4 multi-storey car park closed on 23 June 2026 as part of redevelopment works, so check Heathrow's current Terminal 4 information before travelling.

Where is the Heathrow Terminal 5 pick-up point?

For Heathrow Terminal 5 pick-up, use Terminal 5 Terminal Parking or Park & Ride.

Pick-up from the terminal forecourt is not permitted. Park & Ride currently provides the first 29 minutes free.

For more help navigating the terminal itself, see UKride's Heathrow Terminal 5 guide.

Heathrow Pick-Up and Drop-Off Charge FAQs

How much is the Heathrow drop-off charge and how do I pay it?

Heathrow's Terminal Drop-Off Charge is currently £7 each time a vehicle enters a terminal drop-off zone.

You can pay online or by automated telephone service. If paying after the visit, payment must currently be made by midnight the following day. There are no payment machines in the terminal drop-off areas.

Are Heathrow pick-up and drop-off charges the same?

No.

The £7 Terminal Drop-Off Charge applies when entering a terminal forecourt to leave a departing passenger.

Passenger collection uses different facilities, such as Terminal Parking, Park & Ride or the current Terminal 4 Priority Pick-Up area. The cost therefore depends on the collection option used.

Are there Blue Badge concessions at Heathrow?

Yes, but the concession depends on what you are using.

Eligible Blue Badge holders can apply for a 100% discount on the Terminal Drop-Off Charge. Heathrow also currently provides up to two hours of free parking for eligible Blue Badge holders in Park & Ride car parks.

Check the latest Heathrow conditions before travelling because separate rules can apply to specialist areas such as Terminal 4 Priority Pick-Up.

· pre-booked airport transfer

The appropriate choice depends on where you start, your budget, luggage, group size and preferred journey style.

What is the best way to get to Heathrow?

There is no single option that is best for every traveller.

Heathrow Express prioritises speed to Paddington. The Elizabeth line connects Heathrow directly with more parts of London, while the Piccadilly line is the lower-cost rail option. Door-to-door taxis or pre-booked transfers may suit passengers travelling with several bags, children or a group.

Check current TfL service information before travelling, particularly at weekends or during planned engineering works.

Can I take a train to Heathrow Airport?

Yes.

The main direct rail choices are:

· Heathrow Express

· Elizabeth line

Heathrow Express connects Heathrow with London Paddington, while the Elizabeth line connects the airport with multiple central and east London stations.

Final Thoughts

Heathrow is easier to navigate when you know your terminal, understand where passenger pick-up is permitted and plan your transport before travelling.

For airport collections, remember that terminal drop-off areas cannot be used for passenger pick-up. Use the appropriate parking or collection facility and check the latest Heathrow guidance before setting off, particularly for Terminal 4 while redevelopment arrangements remain in place.

If you would rather have your journey arranged in advance, UKride offers pre-booked Heathrow Airport transfers across London, with planned pick-up, flight tracking and suitable vehicle options for individuals, families and groups.
