Finding somewhere to eat at Heathrow is easier when you know your terminal and how much time you have before your flight. Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5 all have restaurants, Cafes and quick-food options, but the choice changes depending on whether you are before security, in Departures or arriving at the airport.

This guide covers places to eat inside Heathrow Airport, including breakfast, coffee, quick meals, sit-down restaurants and family-friendly choices. It also explains how to choose food when you are short on time and what to check before sitting down for a meal.

For wider terminal, transport and airport information, see our complete Heathrow Airport guide.

Heathrow Airport Restaurants at a Glance

All four active Heathrow terminals have places to eat and drink. The main difference is the number and type of options available in each terminal.

Terminal	Breakfast & Coffee	Quick Food	Sit-Down Dining	Family Options
Terminal 2	Good choice	Good choice	Several options	Yes
Terminal 3	Good choice	Good choice	Several options	Yes
Terminal 4	Available	Available	Smaller but varied choice	Yes
Terminal 5	Wide choice	Wide choice	Wide choice	Yes

Heathrow's current terminal guides confirm dining options across T2, T3, T4 and T5, ranging from coffee and takeaway food to full sit-down meals.

You can also check Heathrow's current restaurant directory before travelling, as restaurants and opening hours can change.

Eating Before or After Security at Heathrow

Before choosing a restaurant, check where it is located.

Before security, often called landside, includes check-in and arrivals areas. These places are useful if you are meeting someone, waiting for an arriving passenger or want food before entering security.

After security, or airside, is where most departing passengers spend their remaining airport time. This area normally provides the larger selection of departure dining.

Do not plan to eat in another terminal simply because you prefer one of its restaurants. Use the terminal shown on your booking or boarding pass and choose food there.

This is especially important if you have limited time. Heathrow terminals can be large, and your gate may not be close to the main restaurant area.

Restaurants and Cafes at Heathrow Terminal 2

Terminal 2, the Queen's Terminal, has a useful mix of breakfast restaurants, Asian food, pub meals and quick options.

Coffee-focused options are also available around the terminal, including Caffè Nero, which operates several Heathrow locations.

Quick Food at Terminal 2

If you do not have enough time for a long meal, look for cafes, takeaway counters or fast-service restaurants rather than starting a full sit-down meal.

YO! currently has both dine-in and grab-and-go options at Terminal 2, including an outlet in T2B.

Sit-Down Dining at Terminal 2

Shan Shui is a useful option if you want Chinese or Southeast Asian food and have enough time to sit down. Jones the Grocer provides a more casual all-day format, while Bill's covers breakfast through later meals.

For passengers who prefer traditional pub-style food, The Sir Frank Whittle and London's Pride by Fuller's are additional choices in Terminal 2.

Restaurants and Cafes at Heathrow Terminal 3

Terminal 3 has a good mix of family restaurants, British dining, Cafes and faster food.

Quick Meals at Terminal 3

Slim Chickens may suit passengers looking for a straightforward cooked meal without a long formal dining experience. YO! also operates in Terminal 3 with dine-in and takeaway food.

Family-Friendly Food at Terminal 3

Giraffe is one of the clearest family choices because Heathrow lists a children's menu and group-friendly seating. The Evergreen and The Curator also publish children's menus.

If you need food before security, The Oceanic is located in the check-in area and has breakfast, main and children's menus. Heathrow identifies it as a landside participant in its family dining offer.

Restaurants and Cafes at Heathrow Terminal 4

Terminal 4 has fewer headline dining names than Terminal 5, but there is still a good mix of full meals, coffee and grab-and-go food.

Restaurant	Location	Opening Hours	Useful For
Wild Olive	Near Gate 7	05:30–21:30	Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food
Co-Pilots Bar & Kitchen	Landside Departures	06:00–22:00	Breakfast, families and all-day dining

Costa	Gate 8 / Arrivals	24 hours	Coffee and quick food

Breakfast and Coffee at Terminal 4

Co-Pilots serve breakfast dishes such as pancakes, eggs and pastries. It is landside, so it can also work for passengers who want to eat before security.

Costa currently has 24-hour locations at Gate 8 and Arrivals, which is useful for very early departures or late arrivals.

Sit-Down and Quick Food at Terminal 4

Wild Olive offers Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes including mezze, flatbreads and halloumi. It also publishes a children's menu.

For something faster, Wafflemeister serves waffles, pastries, toasties and coffee, while YO! currently lists grab-and-go service in Terminal 4.

Restaurants and Cafes at Heathrow Terminal 5

Terminal 5 has one of Heathrow's broadest dining selections, with breakfast, takeaway food, pubs, family restaurants and more formal dining.

Breakfast and Coffee at Terminal 5

The Crown Rivers opens from 04:45, while Gordon Ramsay Plane Food Market and Giraffe open from 05:00. Wagamama serves its airport breakfast menu from 06:00 until 11:00.

Quick Food at Terminal 5

If you are short on time, itsu offers Asian-inspired fast food and opens until 23:00. Five Guys is another straightforward option for burgers and fries, while Pret provides sandwiches, salads and breakfast food across several Heathrow locations.

Sit-Down Dining at Terminal 5

Gordon Ramsay Plane Food Market covers breakfast through evening service and offers both dine-in and grab-and-go food. Fortnum & Mason Bar is better suited to passengers who want to sit down for a meal or drinks before departure.

Families can also consider Giraffe or Pilots Bar & Kitchen, both of which publish children's menus. Pilots currently open from 06:00 to 21:00.

For more information about the terminal itself, see our Heathrow Terminal 5 guide.

Where Should You Eat Based on Your Journey?

The right restaurant depends less on the brand name and more on how much airport time you actually have.

Your Situation	Practical Choice
Early-morning flight	Choose a venue that opens from around 04:00–05:30
Less than 30 minutes to spare	cafe, takeaway or grab-and-go
Travelling with children	Restaurant with a children's menu and proper seating
Business trip	Sit-down restaurant where you can eat without rushing
Long wait before departure	Full-service restaurant or lounge
Want food for the flight	Takeaway or Heathrow in-flight picnic participant
Meeting someone at the airport	Landside/check-in or arrivals restaurant

Do not start a sit-down meal based only on your scheduled boarding time. Check your gate first and allow time to reach it.

Need Food Quickly? Look for Heathrow's 15-Minute Menus

Heathrow runs a 15-minute menu scheme at participating cafes and restaurants. Selected dishes are designed to be served within 15 minutes of ordering. Look for the 15-minute menu symbol at participating venues.

You can check Heathrow's current 15-minute menu restaurants before your journey.

The 15-minute service helps when time is limited, but it does not replace normal boarding planning. You still need enough time to eat and reach your gate.

Can You Pre-Order Food at Heathrow?

Yes. Heathrow currently works with Grab to provide food and drink pre-ordering through selected restaurants in the Heathrow app.

The process is simple: choose a participating restaurant, order and pay from your phone, then collect the food in the terminal. You can eat it there or take it with you.

Check Heathrow's food and drink pre-order service for current participating venues.

This can be useful when you have limited time, want to avoid a longer queue or plan to take food onto the aircraft.

Eating at Heathrow with Children

Families have options in every Heathrow terminal, but it helps to check children's menus before travelling.

Current family-friendly examples include Jones the Grocer and Shan Shui in T2, Giraffe and The Curator in T3, Wild Olive and Co-Pilots in T4, and Giraffe and Pilots in T5.

Heathrow also runs a seasonal Kids Eat Free promotion. At the time of this review, the remaining published periods are 26 October to 1 November 2026 and 21 December 2026 to 3 January 2027. The offer has specific conditions and only applies at participating restaurants, so check the live rules before ordering.

Can You Take Food onto Your Flight from Heathrow?

Yes, many travellers buy food after security and take it onto their flight.

Heathrow also promotes an In-flight Picnic service at participating cafes and restaurants. Look for the “Take me onboard” sign, order your food and have it packed to take away.

Check the current Heathrow in-flight picnic options if you prefer to eat after boarding.

Remember that destination customs rules and airline restrictions may apply to certain foods, especially when travelling internationally.

Eating During a Heathrow Layover

If you are connecting between flights, the restaurant itself is only part of the decision. You also need to think about connection time, terminal changes, security and how far the restaurant is from your next gate.

For that situation, use our dedicated Heathrow layover guide rather than choosing a restaurant based only on its menu.

Final Thoughts

Where you eat at Heathrow should depend on your terminal, your available time and whether you are before or after security. If you have plenty of time, Heathrow has several full-service restaurants across T2, T3, T4 and T5. If boarding is getting close, a cafe, takeaway counter, pre-order service or 15-minute menu is usually the more practical choice.

If you are still planning how to reach or leave the airport, UKride provides pre-booked Heathrow Airport transfers for journeys between Heathrow and London.
